The Natick Fall Crafty 3x3 Boys League concluded week 3 this past Sunday, with the leaderboard taking shape in both the boys 5-6th and girls 5-6th divisions. With week 3 complete, championship day on Nov. 19th is now in sight.
The 5th-6th boys continues to be extremely close with new leaders surfacing after Week 3. Charles Smith, Last week’s number 2, assumed the top spot and will be the number 1 seed heading into championship night. His 24 points (11-2-2) gives him a 2 point lead over second seed Youseff Bouqartacha with 22 points on a big night. Colin Mucha, last week’s leader, is tied for 2nd with 22 points and remains in the hunt for defending his summer league title. As many as 7 different additional players all have a legitimate shot to claim the crown or all-star spots on championship night.
A single player will ultimately win the 3x3 league with 5 additional all-stars crowned on championship day. Players earn 2 points towards their standings when they play on any winning team and one point for a tie during short, 6 minute games. The 3x3 games are scored using the Crafty Bonus Point system, rewarding scoring plays from backdoor cuts, assisted passes, and other screens that lead to a made basket. On championship night, the top 12 players on the leaderboard heading into championship night will be seeded and compete against each other to determine the top six for the final game, and finally the league champion.
The Girls 5th-6th Division is also extremely competitive after week 2 with nearly all players still in range to make a run on championship night. Hannah Cohen (17 points) again leads the pack, earning 7 points this week with 3 wins and a tie in week three. Three players are right behind the leader with 16 points each including Madison Hughes, (7-4-2) and Ava Sundari-Christensen (6-5-4), both in the top five last week. Kira Henderson had a big night to make a big jump to finish with 16 points. Jayme Kiley rounds out the top 5 with 14 points, while 5 additional players are within 5 points of the top spot. It should be an extremely interesting night to see which player rises to the top.
The league concludes this week beginning at 4 PM Sunday at Natick High School. All players are strongly encouraged to attend the final night of play. http://www.craftybasketball.com/page/show/3758160-natick-fall-league
